Stump Removal

Chemical stump removal

This process takes much longer than stump grinding. As much of the stump must be cut off and then holes drilled around the perimeter of the stump. This will provide vent holes which assists the rotting process.

Stump remover chemical is poured into each of the holes and then they are filled with water. The rotting process will take approximately 4 to 6 weeks and then the stump can be broken out with an axe.

Another stump removal process is to pour kerosene or fuel oil into the holes. The liquid is to completely penetrate the wood, which could take a few weeks, then a match is dropped into the holes to begin the burning process. The stump will smolder for days. With this method, precautions are necessary by the use of chicken wire to surround the stump and leaves in the vicinity have to be removed. This process has to be monitored and then the axe method will be used to complete the job.

Stump Grinding

Rather than digging a stump out or using the chemical method, stump grinding is the environmentally friendly way to remove unwanted tree stumps. Stump grinding is also quicker than using the chemical stump removal process. Stumps are turned into grindings which in turn can be used as mulch or turned into compost which may be used in your gardens.
